Global
Education Network

Now we are facing the
globalization era where the world is becoming both increasingly diverse and
increasingly connected. We have a large opportunity to
access information furthermore knowledge everywhere we want. The technologies and telecommunications network have developed rapidly in all aspect of life especially in education. Bringing technology in the classroom is important to
engage and reach the globalization itself. It makes easier for the people to connect with each other through the world.
Milken foundation serves five questions for technology acquisition, productive output, informed use and contributions to development. First, what is it that technology will do for students and educators that is compelling enough to make all the effort worthwhile? (The Incentives). Second, what is it that communities need in order to make informed decisions and wise use of technology and telecommunications for improvements in learning? (Capacity building). Third, what is getting in the way of educators and students effectively using technology and how can we fix the system to get rid of these barriers? (System Changing). Fourth, what is it that we need in order to ensure that all students have the opportunity to learn in a technology-enriched learning environment? (Mandates). Fifth, how will we know it when we see it? What does success look like in terms of student performance? What indicators will we be using? How will the data be collected? What evidence will be analyzed and evaluated against which benchmarks? (Benchmarking) (Milken Foundation, 1998.)

We have to bring the
globalozation in the classroom. It means that children will need new skill sets
in order to communicate and collaborate and to work and play together. Teachers often talk about the need for a global
dimension in the curriculum and the ability, therefore, of students to take a
global perspective on contemporary events and issues. This is different from
the term ‘international’ which refers to connections between countries, as in
‘international relationships’.
Now global education has widespread most in every
countries in the world. Global education emphasises the unity and
interdependence of human society, developing a sense of self and appreciation
of cultural diversity, affirmation of social justice and human rights, as well
as building peace and actions for a sustainable future in different times and
places. Global education promotes positive values and assists students to take
responsibility for their actions and to see themselves as global citizens who
can contribute to a more peaceful, just and sustainable world.
According to David Hicks global
education is the term used internationally to describe a form of education
which:
- Enables people to understand the links between their own lives and those of people throughout the world
- Increases understanding of the economic, cultural, political and environmental influences which shape our lives
- Develops the skills, attitudes and values which enable people to work together to bring about change and take control of their own lives
- Works towards achieving a more just and sustainable world in which power and resources are more equitably shared
To achieve the
development of global education we need some technologies because it is the
instrumental aspect to create global learning. With
technology, we can gather around a screen in a small town in Montana and
connect with a classroom in Russia, it is such using teleconference. The
most technology that often uses is Peer-to-Peer video conferencing. Through
the use of Peer-to-Peer video conferencing, students can study new languages
and to learn about cultural differences while building a global support
network. There are many website
that serve technology to achieve the global education in the classroom that can
find in the internet.
